La historia comienza con el Joker escapando de Arkham Asylum, y con varios secuaces y mercenarios conspirando para destruir Gotham City, apuntándo con misiles con ojivas que están llenos de su mortal Joker-gas desde su base de la isla secreta. Batman debe sobrevivir a varios niveles de desplazamiento lateral , así como a derrotar a cinco jefes de nivel, para garantizar que Gotham esté a salvo.

Batman está armado con un cinturón utilitario que le permite recolectar varios tipos de iconos a lo largo de las etapas para disparar diferentes tipos de batarangs y proyectiles.
